A careful renovation of a 1920s bungalow in Durham’s Old East neighborhood. The design preserves the home’s historic proportions while reworking the plan for contemporary living. All interior and exterior finish selections were developed and specified as part of a cohesive material strategy. Deep blue siding, crisp white trim, warm wood accents, and restrained detailing create a calm, modern interpretation of the bungalow vernacular. The kitchen and bath palettes balance historic restraint with refined simplicity. Natural light and material continuity unify the original structure with its renewed life.
